Smart Energy Decisions has released the current agenda, speakers, and sponsors for the spring edition of the 2018 Renewable Energy Sourcing Forum to be held June 18-20 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, San Diego, Calif.
Focused on the theme of creating and executing a renewable sourcing strategy, the Forum will open with a keynote presentation from Brian Janous, general manager of energy strategy at Microsoft on the future of renewable energy sourcing. Patrick Flynn, senior director of sustainability at Salesforce will discuss his company’s journey in setting and meeting renewable energy goals.
In the closing keynote, Rob Threlkeld, global manager of renewable energy at General Motors and Sam Castor, executive vice president of policy at Switch will unite to discuss how collaboration can expand the market for renewable energy. Developments in higher education will be addressed by Dr. Wolfgang Bauer, distinguished professor and senior consultant at Michigan State University, who will discuss MSU’s award-winning carport solar array, as well as plans for future RE projects.
An industry first-ever panel discussion featuring executives from three progressive utilities will explore their efforts to develop innovative green tariff programs.
Thomas Flannagan, senior originator, wholesale origination at Constellation will offer his views in a conversation "one on one" with SED Founder & Editorial Director John Failla, while Matt Walz, CEO of REC Solar, a Duke Energy Renewables company, will present a supplier’s perspective on the future of renewable energy sourcing. SED’s Failla said, "We’re grateful for the input and guidance of our advisory board, which has once again led to the development of a cutting-edge conference program addressing timely topics of interest to renewable energy buyers."
In addition to keynotes and panel discussions, the Renewable Energy Sourcing Forum offers an engaging and informative mix of energy executive-only sessions, private boardroom case study presentations, and one-on-one meetings with suppliers. Two preconference workshop sessions, exclusively for renewable energy buyers, will offer buyers with limited experience insights on “Getting started in renewable energy sourcing” while those further along the curve will participate in a “Policy and markets outlook” conversation led by Rob Threlkeld, featuring exclusive industry data presented by Bloomberg New Energy Finance
Confirmed sponsors for the event are led by REC Solar, a Duke Energy Renewables company, as the presenting sponsor. Platinum sponsors include NextEra Energy Resources, 3Degrees, Constellation, and Schneider Electric. Gold sponsors include Direct Energy, EDF, LevelTen Energy, Ranger Power, Sempra, SOCORE, and Tradewind Energy, while Apex Clean Energy, BayWa Wind, Edison Energy, ENGIE, NRG Renewables, SunPower, and WGL are participating as silver sponsors.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event— 93% of renewable energy buyer attendees said they were likely to return for the 2018 event—Smart Energy Decisions is presenting two editions this year: the Spring edition in San Diego, as well as a Fall edition at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. on October 1-3.
