Utility Trailer Manufacturing cuts emissions
Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. has reported substantive reductions to energy, water, and materials usage through proactive green initiatives that served to reduce costs while improving efficiency and substantial financial savings for the company each year.
In the last year, Utility has eliminated ozone-depleting emissions from its inject-foam insulation process and reduced overall waste and emissions, resulting in emissions declines from greenhouse gases (GHG) by 27%, volatile organic compounds (VOC) by 62%, and hazardous air pollutants (HAP) air emissions by 97%.
“We are honored to say that all Utility manufacturing plants are classified as Minor Sources of Emissions under the USEPA’s Clean Air Act regulations,” said Brett Olsen, Marketing Manager for Utility. “We take pride in managing our production and manufacturing with integrity as it relates to forward-thinking environmental practices.”
These energy stats and others are included in the company’s third-party sustainability performance report conducted by Ramboll, an engineering, design, and consultancy.
Utility also sources all of its wood from Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI)-certified forests with their focus on cardboard recycling yielding a 23% increase.
