Bain & Company targets 100% carbon neutrality by 2030

Bain & Company announced Sept. 23 that they committed to achieving net zero carbon across their entire operations by 2030, in addition to signing the Business Ambition for 1.5⁰C commitment letter.

The management consulting firm plans to develop new targets based on climate science and data and approve specific targets for emissions reduction by the end of the year. Since 2011, Bain & Company reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 68% and carbon intensity by almost 16%. They are pursuing a 90% reduction by 2030.

“You only have to look at the wildfires and extreme weather events that have occurred around the world to understand climate change is one of the largest long-term risks we face,” Manny Maceda, Worldwide Managing Partner of Bain & Company, said in a statement. “Bain will achieve net-zero carbon status by 2030. We were one of the first companies in our industry to become carbon neutral, and we will continue to set and achieve ambitious targets to ensure we continue to be good stewards of the environment. Results matter.”

In addition to emissions reduction strategies, the company has achieved 93% renewable energy use in their operations and plans to reach 100% by the end of the year.
