J.B. Hunt partners with Univ. of Arkansas on supply chain sustainability
J.B. Hunt Transport Services announced Dec. 22 a new joint venture with the University of Arkansas focused on increasing sustainability in the supply chain and transportation industries.
The collaboration includes an investment of $2.25 million to work alongside the university’s Sam M. Walton College of Business to explore new solutions for current and potential industry challenges. J.B. Hunt will contribute $1.25 million for the project incrementally to the university and will reallocate $750,000 from the J.B. Hunt Innovation Center of Excellence, a program meant to improve supply chain management efficiency through technological innovation.
“The transportation industry has changed so much in the last decade that fresh, innovative thinking is necessary for developing modern solutions,” John Roberts, president and CEO of J.B. Hunt, said in a statement. “Through this collaboration, we will help educate and promote the value of an inclusive workplace, one that respects the individual and creates a welcoming environment for all ideas, values, and beliefs. It will also ensure that we remain steadfast in our efforts to reduce carbon emissions, ensure the safety of all employees, and better the communities we serve.”
The J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inclusion Education and Thought Leadership Fund will provide a $1.25 million contribution to promote diversity in supply chain management, and the J.B. Hunt Transport Services Sustainable Supply Chain Management Research, Innovation, and Education Fund will contribute $1 million to support educational pursuits that promote sustainable business practices and ESG engagement.
J.B. Hunt has previously worked with the Walton College’s supply chain program to enhance industry efficiency and innovation.
