New Energy Technologies in the spotlight at SED’s 2021 Innovation Summit
New energy technologies will be front and center at Smart Energy Decisions’ 2021 Virtual Innovation Summit, set for March 22-25. The event will feature a mix of educational sessions, peer-to-peer networking opportunities, and exclusive one-to-one meetings between industry buyers and solution providers.
“New energy technologies will be essential for large power users to achieve their energy and sustainability goals in 2021 and beyond,” explained John Failla, Smart Energy Decisions’ Founder and Editorial Director. “Our goal at this event is to present these opportunities to our community of buyers, along with the tools they’ll need to find the best solution for their business needs."
The Innovation Summit will feature a pre-conference workshop on "The State of Decarbonization." Driven by the priority to decarbonize by a growing list of companies, the workshop will feature exclusive results of a Smart Energy Decisions Pulse Survey to identify the drivers, challenges, and opportunities to accelerate adoption of these solutions.
Members of the Steering Committee guiding the development of this Initiative include Bill Hoenigmann, Global Category Leader for Energy at BD; Scott Bargerstock, Global Energy and Innovation Senior Manager, Mohawk Industries: Blaine Collison, Executive Director of the Renewable Thermal Collaborative; and Walt Tunnessen, Energy Star Industrial Program Manager.
The Innovation Summit will also present a special Peer2Peer session, "Embracing New Energy Technologies.” In addition to an overview of drivers accelerating innovative technologies presented by SED’s Director of Education Programs, Peter Kelly-Detwiler, the session will include two breakout sessions, one for buyers to share their views on how to evaluate various opportunities in order to maximize value while managing risk and one for supplier sponsors to discuss how to effectively communicate their value proposition, efficiently close transactions, and get business done.
Previously announced customer keynote speakers at the event include Marty Sedler, Director of Global Utilities & Infrastructure, Intel Corp., Dennis Elliot, Assistant Vice President, Facility, California Polytechnic State University, and Robert Berninger, Director – Plant Operations, Energy & Engineering, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
In other event news from Smart Energy Decisions, the June Renewable Energy Forum will pivot to become a virtual event. This decision was made after preliminary results of a Smart Energy Decisions Pulse Survey, conducted in mid-January, showed that 78% of companies currently have a travel ban in place. Further, fewer than 10% of the energy, sustainability, and facility executives who responded expect to be able to travel to industry events/conferences by the second quarter of 2021.
“We will return to on-site events as soon as possible,” said Failla. “For the time being, we will continue to offer our community the chance to interact within our proven virtual event platform, where we produced three events and hosted more than 1,000 one-to-one meetings in 2020.”
