Meriden Housing Authority adds solar to affordable housing locations

Meriden Housing Authority announced on Jan. 26 that it will install solar EV carport, rooftop and ground-mount systems at two former schools in Bristol, Connecticut, which will be converted to affordable housing. The solar will provide 100% of the future tenants’ power needs, in addition to providing protective shading and aesthetic benefits.

Commercial solar contractor iSun will perform the installation work.

“We are pleased to have developed these projects with iSun,” Robert Cappelletti, executive director of Meriden Housing Authority, said in a statement. “They effectively combined solar energy carports, flexible rooftop solar technologies and electric vehicle infrastructure, to create an enhanced experience for our tenants. Meriden Housing Authority is determined to create smart, renewable energy systems for the housing of our residents so that all residents are able to access such technologies. We look forward to working on more projects with iSun in the future.”
