Chevron expands dairy biomethane project

Chevron USA announced Feb 17 the expansion of its dairy biomethane project in partnership with Brightmark.

Brightmark RNG Holdings LLC will expand ownership of projects across the United States to produce and market the renewable natural gas produced by the dairy farms. Additional equity investments by each of the partners will fund construction of infrastructure and commercial operations of five new dairy biomethane projects in Michigan and Arizona.

“Working with Brightmark to add new projects underpins our commitment to supplying the world with affordable, reliable and ever-cleaner energy,” Andy Walz, president of Chevron’s Americas Fuels & Lubricants, said in a statement. “It’s an exciting time for Chevron as we continue to help advance the energy transition and help industries and consumers that use our products build a lower carbon future.”

Under the partnership, Chevron will purchase the RNG produced from the projects and market the volumes for use in compressed natural gas vehicles.

The subsidiaries of Brightmark RNG Holdings currently own RNG projects in Western New York, Western Michigan, Central Florida and South Dakota.
