The Travelers Companies Releases 2030 Carbon Neutrality Plan
The Travelers Companies announced in its annual Sustainability Report that it reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions 55% from 2011 to 2020.
The insurance company also committed to becoming carbon neutral across its owned operations by 2030. The sustainability report also includes detail on the 40% growth the company year over year in gross written premiums from renewable energy business units.
Travelers also expanded its international footprint of onshore and offshore wind and solar generation across Asia, Canada, Europe, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
“We take a holistic approach to sustained value creation, understanding that our long-term success depends not only on our business strategy and competitive advantages but also on keeping our promise to be there for our customers, communities and employees,” Yafit Cohn, chief sustainability officer at Travelers, said in a statement. “This year’s report showcases the ways that we delivered on that promise and raised the bar in terms of taking care of all our stakeholders during a globally challenging time.”
Part of Travelers’ climate strategy also included climate-related risk identification and management and creating products that respond to those risks. Travelers provides climate-related disclosure through voluntary reporting.
