Kruger Products Receives Efficiency Investment from Canadian Government

The Canadian government will support the low-emission transition of its manufacturing sectors through investment in Kruger Products for the purpose of improving the efficiency of its tissue production operations.

The government plans to invest $40,000 in the paper products manufacturer to go towards processes that reduce the energy use at its Crabtree plant in Quebec. The plant will be able to use the funding to certify the plant to the ISO 50001 Energy Management Standard, a process that it estimates could improve the plant’s energy performance by nearly 3% in the first two years.

The funding was provided by the Industrial Energy Management Program, a federal fund that support’s industrial facilities’ energy projects. Kruger Products itself has also made investments to improve the efficiency of its plant, bringing the total combined investment to $660,000.

The investment by the Canadian government will support the national target for net-zero emissions by 2050.

“We are grateful for Natural Resources Canada's support of this initiative that fits perfectly into our overall sustainability strategy, which is a priority not only for Kruger Products, but for all Kruger operations in North America,” Michel Manseau, senior vice president and general manager of consumer products at Kruger Products, said in a statement. “By continually improving our energy efficiency, we will make our production process even more responsible and respectful of the environment, consumers and our communities.”
