NETSCOUT Surpasses Energy Use Goal with 12% Reduction

NETSCOUT announced Aug. 24 that it reduced the energy usage in its engineering labs by 12.1% in 2020 through a series of infrastructure updates.

The cybersecurity company released its inaugural ESG Report, which details a pilot program launched in 2020 to reduce its energy usage by rationalizing hardware, updating cooling systems and monitoring infrastructure. The program was launched with a goal to reduce energy usage by 6%, a target which the company surpassed by more than 100%.

Due to the success of the program, the company plans to expand these upgrades to 16 additional engineering sites. NETSCOUT also used its sustainability-by-design efforts to help customers reduce their own power usage by leveraging software that optimizes the number of physical devices at their locations.

To further reduce energy use at its facilities, NETSCOUT implemented technologies like motion-sensitive lighting and began encouraging employees to work remotely when possible.
