Tapestry Signs SBTi Business Ambition for 1.5⁰C
Tapestry announced Sept. 23 that it signed the Science Based Targets initiative Business Ambition for 1.5⁰C and is committed to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
The parent company of luxury brands like Coach, kate spade new york and Stuart Weitzman also committed to setting interim science-based targets on its path to reaching net zero. The company will establish these targets following the criteria and recommendations of the SBTi and will ensure that they align with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
“At Tapestry, we are committed to leading with purpose and embracing our responsibility as a global house of fashion brands to effect real and lasting change for our industry and our stakeholders,” CEO Joanne Crevoiserat said in a statement. “Signing the Business Ambition for 1.5⁰C represents an important step forward in our journey to reduce our climate impact and make our planet more sustainable.”
This effort follows a recent announcement that Tapestry is pursuing 100% renewable energy use in its stores, offices and fulfillment centers by 2025.
