Houston Dynamos Stadium to Undergo Energy Upgrades
The Houston Dynamo Football Club will soon be sourcing clean energy for its operations and undergoing energy upgrades at its main stadium in Texas.
The soccer team signed a letter of intent with Shell Energy to make them the sole energy provider for Houston Dynamo FC, the Houston Dash and PNC Stadium. Shell Energy will complete LED lighting installations, HVAC system replacement and EV charging station installations at PNC Stadium.
The upgrade from Shell will support the soccer club’s goal of reducing its carbon footprint by nearly 50% by 2026. The club and Shell will also be planting a tree for each game that the Dynamo or Dash win which gives them three points in the league standings.
“Shell Energy is at the forefront of providing cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions, and we are thrilled to welcome them into the Houston Dynamo Football Club family,” John Walker, Houston Dynamo FC President, said in a statement. “We take pride in being leaders on and off the pitch, and with the help of Shell Energy we aim to be a leader in sustainability by reducing our carbon footprint by half over the next five years."
