Serco’s Net Zero Target Validated by SBTi
Serco, a provider of services and support to governments internationally, announced it received validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its GHG emission reduction targets.
In 2023, Serco announced its commitment to reach net zero emissions by 2050, and the company submitted its science-based targets in 2024.
Serco’s science-based targets for reducing emissions include the following:
Overall Net Zero Target
- Reach Net Zero GHG emissions across the value chain by 2050
Near-Term Targets
- Reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 46% by 2030 from a 2022 base year
- Reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from fuel and energy-related and business travel by 25% by 2030 from a 2022 base year
- 95% of suppliers by emissions to have science-based targets in place by 2028
Long-Term Targets
- Reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 95% by 2050
- Reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% by 2050
