Lenovo Achieves Progress on Emission Reductions
Computer hardware manufacturer Lenovo announced the company achieved progress on lowering its emissions.
The company announced it is on track to lower absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions (related to operations) by 50% by FY 2029/30, according to a statement.
Lenovo also is on track to lower Scope 3 GHG emissions (value chain) from use of sold products by about 35% on average for comparable products. The roadmap to achieve this goal is to lower product emissions through energy efficiency improvements and by engaging customers to use more renewable energy.
The company is on track to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions (supply chain) from procured goods and services 66.5% per $1 million gross profit.
Lenovo’s plan includes the following:
- Inclusion of climate change requirements in Supplier Code of Conduct
- Supplier climate data collected annually from subset of suppliers
- Climate change KPIs included in supplier ESG scorecards (evaluation process)
- Expand supplier program to greater number of suppliers/data capabilities and SBTi level of commitment
Lenovo is also on track to lower Scope 3 GHG emissions from global logistics operations by 25% per ton-km of transported product through four initiatives; modal shift to lower carbon modes of transport; optimization of transport planning; increase of vehicle utilization; and improvement of vehicle fuel efficiency.
