Amer Sports Secures SBTi Validation

Amer Sports announced the company reached a milestone in its sustainability goals with validation by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its near-term and net-zero science-based targets.

The company — which manufactures sports apparel, footwear, equipment, protective gear, and accessories — set goals to be reached by 2030. Its validated targets focus on reducing emissions across the entire value chain — including its brands, operations, and supply chain — and include the following:

Near-term targets to be achieved by 2030, using 2022 as the baseline year:

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 60%.
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream and downstream transportation and distribution by 25%.

Long-term and net-zero targets to be achieved by 2050, using 2022 as the baseline year:

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90%.
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90%.
  • Achieve net-zero emissions across the entire value chain.

“This validation is a great milestone and a recognition of the hard work across our teams, but more importantly, it marks the start of the real work ahead. Reaching our targets will require collaboration across teams, innovation in materials and logistics, and close engagement with our suppliers and partners,” says Anne Larilahti, SVP of Sustainability at Amer Sports, in a statement.
