Eurofiber’s Net-Zero Targets Receive SBTi Validation
Fiber optic network company Eurofiber announced the official validation of its net-zero targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The SBTi approval demonstrates that Eurofiber’s climate goals align with the SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard. Under it, Eurofiber commits to reaching net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2040. By 2030, it will cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by at least 90% from its 2021 baseline, ensure 100% renewable electricity sourcing and reduce scope 3 emissions by 30%. From 2030 to 2040, the company will maintain a minimum 90% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and further reduce Scope 3 emissions by 90%, fully aligning with its net-zero target.
Eurofiber has so far significantly reduced its carbon footprint for Scope 1 and 2 (direct emissions and electricity purchases), which now amounts to approximately 3% of the company’s entire CO2 footprint.
In order to also achieve the objectives in its supply chain (Scope 3), the company established a supplier engagement program to advise Eurofiber’s suppliers on improving sustainability of their products and organization. This will result in a further reduction of CO2 emissions in the supply chain, moving toward net-zero in 2040.
“Receiving the approval for our SBTi Net-Zero targets is a great confirmation that we are on the right track. It’s not just about setting goals — it’s about following through with real action and progress. We know sustainability is an ongoing commitment, and this recognition motivates us to keep pushing forward,” said Jeroen Kanselaar, ESG-manager Eurofiber, in a statement.
