SED to present corporate renewable energy sourcing research findings at Climate Week NYC

Smart Energy Decisions will discuss the key findings of its soon-to-be-released report, "The State of Corporate Renewable Energy Sourcing," along with a panel of experts from Goldman Sachs, General Motors and event sponsor Edison Energy at a Sept. 20 event held in conjunction with Climate Week NYC.

Following a luncheon at the Princeton Club, founder and editorial director John Failla will present a series of key findings from the Smart Energy Decisions renewable energy sourcing survey, which fielded in June and includes responses from 94 large energy users, including more than 72 commercial and industrial company executives. That presentation will be followed by a panel discussion of the topic with Cindy Quan, vice president of the environment, social and governance team at Goldman Sachs; David Tulauskas, director of sustainability at General Motors, and Blaine Collinson, managing director at Altenex, an Edison Energy company.

Smart Energy Decisions designed and conducted the research study to explore trends in corporate renewable energy sourcing, including current activity and plans for the future.

Climate Week NYCQuan recently helped lead Goldman Sachs down the path to firm's first power purchase agreement for wind energy, which is matched, roughly, to the size of its North American electricity load. The virtual power purchase agreement tied to the output from a planned, 68 MW wind farm in Pennsylvania will help the banking giant toward its goal of using 100% renewable energy for its global electricity needs.

As sustainability director at GM, Tulauskas spearheads the automotive giant's bold sustainability strategy and ensures alignment with its broader business model. As part of that strategy, GM has pledged to generate or source all electrical power for its 350 operations in 59 countries with 100% renewable energy — such as wind, sun and landfill gas — by 2050.

Collison leads Altenex's marketing and strategic partnerships arm and helps commercial, industrial and institutional energy users identify, analyze and execute renewable energy supply. Prior to joining Altenex in April 2014, he led the U.S. EPA's Green Power Partnership, helping more than 1,500 commercial and institutional energy buyers source new renewable energy for their U.S. operations.

"We're proud to have been invited by the Climate Group to participate in this year's Climate Week NYC," Smart Energy Decisions founder and editorial director John Failla said. "This event is in perfect alignment with our mission and a great opportunity to conduct the first public presentation of our research report on corporate renewable energy sourcing."

Admission to attend this event is complimentary for renewable energy buyers.
