Wynn Las Vegas Resort signs PPA with Enel

Wynn Las Vegas has signed a PPA with Enel Green Power North America for energy produced from the new 27 MWh Wynn Solar Facility, currently under construction in Stillwater, Nevada. The $40-million, 160-acre facility is expected to open during the first half of this year and will power Wynn’s new multi-use development, Paradise Park.

Wynn Las Vegas expects power from the new facility to meet up to 75 percent of its peak-power requirements, according to a report in Power Engineering. This represents the largest percentage of renewable energy used by any resort in Las Vegas. The solar PV Wynn Solar Facility is located adjacent to the existing Stillwater hybrid facility and will share existing infrastructure.

"The use of renewable energy is a significant part of the future management of our energy needs in all Wynn developments," said Steve Wynn, chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts. "We welcome every opportunity to protect and enhance our environment, save money and serve our guests and employees."

"We are extremely pleased about Wynn’s support of renewable energy and look forward to a long-term partnership that will continue to position Nevada as a hub of clean energy excellence," said Antonio Cammisecra, head of Enel’s Global Renewable Energies Division, Enel Green Power. This partnership marks EGP’s fifth major corporate customer agreement in the US over the last two years.
