Trinseo reports 24% GHG reduction
Trinseo, the global manufacturer of plastics, latex binders, and synthetic rubber, announced it has achieved a number of notable reductions in its environmental footprint from 2011 to 2017, including a 24% decline in GHG emissions from sources owned or controlled by the company and a 10% decline in electricity usage.
The results were included in the release of the company’s 2018 Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Report, titled "Purpose, Performance, Progress." The report is Trinseo’s eighth since the company’s formation in 2010 and the first by the company to use the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework for public sustainability reporting.
"We remain focused on Trinseo’s purpose – delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across our entire product portfolio – and continually improving safety and environmental performance across our global operations," said Chris Pappas, president and CEO. "Every employee plays a role in our accountability, and together we are advancing Trinseo’s progress in becoming a more transparent and sustainable company."
The company has also established a multidisciplinary Sustainability Council, made up of a cross-functional group of company leaders focused on sustainability, including the benefits and risks related to climate change and corporate social responsibility programs.
