Ingersoll Rand commits to reduce emissions 1 gigaton
Ingersoll Rand’s Trane and Thermo King businesses announced their Gigaton Challenge, a commitment to reduce 1 gigaton of carbon emissions from its customers’ footprint by 2030, during Climate Week NYC.
The Trane and Thermo King brands, leaders in the heating and cooling industry, made other 2030 commitments to sustainability as part of Climate Week NYC as well. They pledged to improve operational energy efficiency by 3% annually, set a 100% renewable electricity target for their entire global operations by 2040 and committed to doubling their energy productivity by 2035.
In these commitments, Trane and Thermo King agreed to join the RE100 and the EP100 and committed to making lower GWP alternatives available in all platforms globally by 2030.
“The next frontier of sustainability starts with bold action,” Michael W. Lamach, Chairman and CEO of Ingersoll Rand, said in a statement. “Addressing the world’s greatest challenges including climate change, urbanization and resource scarcity requires companies like ours to make ESG core to how we innovate, operate and engage. Collaboration is key to accelerating positive change and Climate Week NYC provides a powerful platform to engage.”
