American Eagle reaffirms commitment to carbon neutrality

American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. reaffirmed Feb. 7 their sustainability commitments made last year, ensuring they are on track and re-emphasizing  the commitment made to carbon neutrality by the year 2030.

The apparel company's commitment to their carbon neutrality goal includes joining RE100, signing the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action and developing goals through the Science Based Targets initiative.

“At AEO we believe in turning our commitment to sustainability into action for our customers, our associates and all of our stakeholders,” Jay Schottenstein, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement. “By working together, as part of a global network to reduce carbon emissions, we will begin to build a sustainable future through innovation and collaboration.”

In addition to their goal of carbon neutrality in all owned and operated offices, stores, distribution centers and all employee business travel by 2030, American Eagle has a target to reduce carbon emissions in their manufacturing 40% by 2030 and 60% by 2040 compared to a 2018 baseline.

American Eagle has also implemented projects to ensure that materials throughout their supply chain are sourced sustainably and responsibly.
