Calif. real estate firm recognized for carbon neutrality
A Scottsdale, Ariz.,-based real estate development firm focusing on providing real estate for the regulated cannabis industry announced March 3 that they have received validation of their carbon neutrality from the U.N. Climate Neutral Now Initiative and One Carbon World.
According to the company, Zoned Properties, they are the first organization focused on the regulated cannabis industry to achieve carbon neutrality. As part of their commitment, Zoned Properties has measured and reported their emissions, reduced emissions and offset remaining emissions with U.N. Certified Emissions Reductions.
“We believe that 2020 will be a transformative year for both the regulated cannabis industry and the sustainable development industry,” Bryan McLaren, Chief Executive Officer of Zoned Properties, said in a statement. “Earlier this year, Blackrock Chairman & CEO, Larry Fink, issued his 2020 Letter to CEO’s outlining a clear and urgent investment focus on sustainable development and corporate social responsibility. Our team at Zoned Properties is working hard to build a foundational paradigm for sustainable development and corporate social responsibility in the regulated cannabis industry, and we intend to play a leading role by supporting our peers in joining this movement.”
Through their partnership with One Carbon World, Zoned Properties was provided with the One Carbon World Grant Fund to pay for their offset credits and was awarded their Carbon Neutral Gold Standard.
