Utah Inland Port Authority plans energy overhaul alongside utility
The Utah Inland Port Authority signed a Joint Clean Energy Cooperation Statement with Rocky Mountain Power that allows for the sharing of data and resources to identify solutions to engage 100% renewable energy, increase energy efficiency programs and plan for the electrification of freight, cargo and logistics equipment within the UIPA jurisdictional area.
The first steps of the partnership will include developing a 10-year power use forecast for the UIPA jurisdiction and a consequential renewable energy generation and storage forecast to identify a path forward based on resource type (wind, solar, battery, RECs, etc.), resource size and capital. This plan will also include an outline of future transmission and infrastructure needs, such as EV charging stations for short-haul, regional and long-haul trucks, off road cargo handling equipment, refrigerated cargo containers and other electric vehicles.

Collaborations like the one we’re announcing today are key to creating a better future for our community and economy.”
Other energy projects will be identified and outlined as the partnership progresses.
