California’s EV Charging Infrastructure Expands
Southern California Edison’s $436 million Charge Ready electric vehicle charging program continues to bring light-duty EV chargers to schools, public parking lots, hospitals, and business centers. To meet the state’s EV and climate goals, 38,000 Charge Ready EV chargers are planned for multifamily, business, and new construction areas. Half of the planned chargers will be placed in economically impacted communities and state-designated disadvantaged communities that suffer most from air pollution.
The Charge Ready program has already installed more than 1,000 EV charging stations at more than 100 sites. Panda Restaurant Group and Marriott Palm Desert Spring Villas were among the businesses included in the program’s $22 million pilot in 2016.
