ACI Challenges Cleaning Products Industry: Net Zero Emissions by 2050
The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) has challenged cleaning product companies to align their operations with the Paris Climate Agreement, achieving net zero emissions by 2050. So far, at least fifteen cleaning product suppliers have risen to the challenge by making science-based climate commitments.
The companies will follow the ACI’s new roadmap to a net-zero cleaning industry by 2050:
- Reduce absolute GHG emissions from operations and manufacturing.
- Work with supply chain partners to reduce upstream GHG emissions
- Transition themselves and suppliers to low-carbon transportation.
- Store and sequester carbon with natural climate solutions
- Minimize emissions from their customers’ use of cleaning products
Among those who have committed to the net zero challenge are
- BASF
- Colgate-Palmolive
- Croda
- Dow
- Ecolab
- Firmenich
- Henkel
- IFF
- MonoSol
- Novozymes
- Reckitt
- Sasol
- Seventh Generation
- Shell
- Twin Rivers Technologies
“For us, creating a cleaner future means putting into practice today sustainable actions that will safeguard our society and our environment for tomorrow,” said Melissa Hockstad, ACI President & CEO, in a statement. “Our hope is that by getting all hands on deck now and prioritizing any and all action, we can ensure our collective impact on the planet is a positive one.”
