Yamaha Motors Plans to Make Fully Carbon Neutral Motorcycles by 2050
Yamaha Motor Co. announced plans to achieve full carbon neutrality across all business activities, including the life cycles of its products, by 2050.
The motorized product manufacturer established this new goal after considering its environmental plan for 2050 first created in 2018. In the interim, Yamaha also plans to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and 86% by 2050. The company is also targeting an interim goal of reducing Scope 3 emissions from its value chain 24% by 2030, 38% by 2035 and 90% by 2050.
The company plans to formulate a medium-term plan every three years and reassess its projects dedicated to reaching those targets.
To reduce the emissions from using its products, Yamaha also intends to assess the CO2 emitted per person during movement in one of its products and pursue ways to use efficient and low-carbon power sources for operating its motorcycles.
