CBRE Commits to 2040 Net Zero

CBRE Group announced Sept. 20 that it plans to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 in its own operations, the properties it manages for investors and occupiers and from its supply chain.

The real estate company signed Amazon’s The Climate Pledge, a coalition of businesses committed to reaching net-zero carbon 10 years ahead of the goals of the Paris Agreement. These new commitments build on science-based emissions reduction targets that CBRE released last year.

CBRE also signed the Business Ambition for 1.5°C commitment.

“As the world’s largest manager of commercial real estate, we have a special obligation to help the world address the many challenges posed by the warming planet,” Bob Sulentic, CBRE’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “CBRE is deeply committed to doing our part and to working with our clients and across our vast global supply chain to help achieve net zero emissions as quickly as possible. This is an essential element of our commitment to the communities in which we operate.”
