Marks & Spencer to Add 900 EV Charging Points Across UK

Marks & Spencer will soon be installing 900 electric vehicle charge points at 70 M&S store locations across the United Kingdom.

The British retailer completed an agreement with bp pulse, which will complete the installations of ultra-fast and rapid charging stations over the next two years. The expansion of bp pulse’s charging network will add 40,000 kWh of charging capacity to the country’s EV infrastructure.

The first phase of the project has already taken place, with 15 rapid chargers being installed and available for using the M&S Maidstone Eclipse and Southgate locations.

The new chargers will add to the existing 250 bp pulse charging stations that have previously been installed at bp gas stations that sell M&S food products through a previous partnership with the retailer.

The new chargers will support M&S’ plan to become fully net zero by 2040.

“At M&S we’re reshaping the business for sustainable future growth in every sense,” Sacha Berendji, director of operations at M&S, said in a statement. “From our award-winning Shwopping initiative to our Fill Your Own refill concept, EV charging is the latest feature to ensure we have a store estate fit for the future, to help our customers live lower carbon lives. We know that services like EV charging are in demand from our customers, so we’re delighted to be offering this service and give more reasons for customers to shop with us.”
