Verallia Lowers Emissions By 10.8%

Verallia announced a reduction in Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions of -2.7% vs. 2021 (-10.8% vs. 2019). 

The glass bottle manufacturer’s Scope 1 and 2  emissions totaled 2,756 kt CO2 for the year 2022 compared with 2021 emissions of 2,833 kt CO2.

Verallia is in line with its trajectory for reducing its Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 46% in absolute terms by 2030 (reference year 2019).

In March, the targets for reducing CO2 emissions by 2030 were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). 

As part of the deployment of its decarbonization strategy, the Group has announced the commissioning at the end of 2023 of its first 100% electric plant in Cognac (France) and the signing of a partnership with Fives. This technology should make it possible to lower CO2 emissions by 60% compared with a traditional furnace. The first hybrid furnace is also set to become operational in Saragossa (Spain) at the end of 2024, lowering CO2 emissions by 50% compared with a traditional furnace.
