Arconic Sets 2030 Goals
Arconic Corporation plans to seek a 30% reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions intensity and a 10% reduction in energy intensity by 2030 compared to a base year of 2021.
An aluminum sheet, plate, extrusions, and architectural products manufacturer, Arconic will also increase partnerships to accelerate product innovation and increase product circularity through sourcing and use improvements.
Arconic made progress on environmental stewardship in 2022, working to decrease emissions from purchased metal, the largest contributor to its Scope 3 emissions, by reducing primary metal volume and increasing scrap volume. This resulted in a 13% reduction in the carbon intensity of purchased metal, which contributed to a 10% overall reduction in GHG emissions intensity compared to its 2021 baseline year.
Details were provided in its 2022 Sustainability Report.
“Our purpose is to create sustainable solutions for a better world, and we have aligned our Sustainability Goals in a way that is meaningful and actionable, not just aspirational,” said Tim Myers, Chief Executive Officer, in a statement. “As a fabricator of infinitely recyclable aluminum, our products are inherently sustainable, but we need to work with our customers and suppliers to ensure that we are reducing our carbon footprint related to processes throughout our value chain.”
