Nature's Sunshine Products Lowers Emissions by 43%
Nature's Sunshine Products, a natural health and wellness company specializing in herbal and nutritional products, lowered GHG emissions in Scopes 1 and 2 by 43% since 2022.
The company is using 100% wind to power its Poland warehouse and distribution center and achieved TRUE GOLD Zero Waste Certification at its U.S. distribution centers.
Nature's Sunshine Products also made significant progress by reaching 100% solar power at its manufacturing facility and is on track to reduce manufacturing waste by 35% and cut its Scope 1 and 2 emissions in half.
The company’s U.S. manufacturing facility has lowered its electricity usage by 15%. The improvement was the result of productivity enhancements, the use of LED lighting and motion sensors, equipment efficiencies and technology.
Nature's Sunshine Products moved to a four-day workweek at its manufacturing facility to lower weekly operating days by 20%.
The company also joined a collaboration facilitated by the Sustainable Herbs Program to improve emissions data and accuracy and to determine how to reduce and mitigate the emissions associated with growing, processing and transporting herbs.
Details were released in its 2023 Comprehensive Impact Report.
"Doing things the right way — and for the right reasons — is the only way to make a difference for both our planet and its people," said Terrence Moorehead, CEO, Nature's Sunshine, in a statement.
