Brenntag's Goals Receive SBTi Approval

Brenntag, a global chemicals and ingredients distribution company, announced that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) confirmed its climate targets to reduce its emissions across all corporate activities including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

The company’s targets are the following:

• Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 58.8% by 2034 from a 2023 base year.
• Lower absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 35% within the same timeframe.
• Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2045 from a 2023 base year.
• Lower absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% by 2050 from a 2023 base year.

We are proud that organizations like the SBT initiative have now confirmed our ambitious climate targets. As a global distributor of chemicals and ingredients, more than 85% of our Scope 3 emissions come from the products we trade. Nevertheless, we have set ourselves the goal of net zero Scope 3 by 2050.”
