Fresenius Medical Care's Emissions Fall 25%
Fresenius Medical Care (FME), a provider of products and services for individuals with renal diseases, lowered the company’s environmental footprint.
In 2024, the company’s reported Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions footprint declined by 25% compared to 2020. The company has identified over 100 opportunities for energy efficiency at its production sites.
Fresenius Medical Care also Integrated sustainability targets into long-term and short-term compensation under the new "Compensation System 2024+" for management board members and including them in the company's global bonus plan for senior managers.
As detailed in its 2024 Annual Report, the company also set Scope 3 targets aimed at reducing emissions in the value chain, developing a new supplier code of conduct, integrating additional ESG performance indicators into the internal control system and implementing initiatives related to the new European Sustainability Reporting Standards.
"The year 2024 marked the second year of a three-year transformation and turnaround journey for Fresenius Medical Care,” said Helen Giza, CEO and Chair of the Management Board of Fresenius Medical Care AG, in a statement. “With the major structural and legal changes undertaken in 2023, in 2024 our focus was on building momentum. Our efforts have been designed to strengthen our financial foundation – both for today and for future sustainable, profitable growth."
