It’s clear that an increasing number of industry leaders have taken the first steps toward carbon neutrality, while simultaneously optimizing their energy bill costs. Few, however, are well-advanced in their promises and actions.  This column from management consultancy Arthur D. Little explores hurdles and options industrial and large commercial companies should consider in order to achieve their ambitions.

Whirlpool Corporation’s goal of net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 has been approved by the SBTi. This commitment includes emissions from Whirlpool’s manufacturing and distribution centers across the globe, spanning over 30 sites.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. achieved a reduction in total energy consumption of 6% in 2020 vs. 2019 and a 25% reduction since 2017. These results, along with other energy and emissions-related successes, as well as long-term goals, were shared with the release of the company’s 2020 ESG Progress Report.
