Hexion Inc. announced its commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2030 from a 2017 baseline to address climate change.

The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) has challenged cleaning product companies to align their operations with the Paris Climate Agreement, achieving net zero emissions by 2050. So far, at least fifteen cleaning product suppliers have risen to the challenge by making science-based climate commitments. 

To celebrate Eli Lilly’s 145th anniversary, the medical company has committed to Scope 1 and 2 carbon neutrality - including the use of 100% renewable energy - by 2030. This target builds on its 2020 success of reducing GHG emissions intensity by 22.2% (compared to 2012).

Whirlpool Corporation’s goal of net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 has been approved by the SBTi. This commitment includes emissions from Whirlpool’s manufacturing and distribution centers across the globe, spanning over 30 sites.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. achieved a reduction in total energy consumption of 6% in 2020 vs. 2019 and a 25% reduction since 2017. These results, along with other energy and emissions-related successes, as well as long-term goals, were shared with the release of the company’s 2020 ESG Progress Report.

In its 2020 Sustainability Report, mining company Alcoa Corporation shared progress towards its goals to reduce emissions in alignment with the Paris Climate Accord.

EnLink Midstream announced on May 4 its intention to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with practical strategies to follow and milestones to meet as the company moves toward this goal.

Digital freight network Convoy has announced its intent to prevent 3 million pounds of shipping-related carbon emissions in 2021. This will constitute an 87% increase compared to the emissions that Convoy’s automated shipping logistics saved in 2020.
