Cisco, Ecolab, Hasbro top Newsweek green rankings
Cisco Systems Inc. was recently named by Newsweek as the highest ranked U.S. company by corporate sustainability and environmental impact, joined by seven other large commercial and industrial energy users on the publication's top rankings for 2017.
Newsweek's 2017 Green Rankings, done in partnership with Corporate Knights, rank the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the U.S. by market capitalization on one list, as well as the 500 largest publicly traded companies globally by market capitalization in a separate list. The companies are scored based on performance on specific indicators, including energy and greenhouse gas emission productivity, separately, as well as whether or not the companies have mechanisms in place that link senior executive pay to corporate environmental performance.
Materials company Ecolab Inc. ranked second on the U.S. list followed by toy and game maker Hasbro Inc., which fell from first place in the publications 2016's rankings. Utility holding company PG&E Corp. ranked fourth, and materials company Sealed Air Corp. rounded out the top five.
Best Buy Co. Inc. ranked sixth on the 2017 Green Rankings, followed by Celegene Corp., Apple Inc., CMS Energy Corp. and Johnson & Johnson at seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth, respectively. More details are available here.
