JBS USA announces 2020 sustainability targets
JBS USA, a global branded food company, announced on Apr. 11 a series of sustainability targets for 2020, including a reduction of GHG emissions, along with the release of its 2017 Sustainability Report.
In a statement, the company reported that in 2017, JBS USA reduced GHG emissions by 7.6%, natural gas by 6.3%, the intensity of its water use by 6.2%, and electricity by 5.2% compared to 2016. Targets for 2020 include a further 20% reduction in GHG emissions, reducing natural gas use by 20%, the intensity of its water use by 10%, and electricity use by 12%.
