Unilever adds solar array at U.S. HQ
Unilever North America has completed a rooftop solar array at its Englewood Cliffs, N.J. headquarters. The array Is expected to create more than 500,000 kWh of electricity per year.
A report by PV Magazine said the solar array, containing approximately 1,200 panels and sized at approximately 400 kW, was completed by IGS Solar, which will own and operate the project. The array is a first for Unilever in the U.S.
"It has been an honor to partner with Unilever to play a role in helping them reach their noble ‘Sustainable Living Plan’ goal of reducing their environmental impact by 50% before 2030," stated Nathan Jovanelly, Regional Manager of IGS Solar.
The report noted that through an agreement between Unilever and IGS, Unilever has zero capital or ongoing maintenance expenses, but still gets to enjoy the benefits of clean, renewable energy produced by the sun.
