Shell and RE survey complete final program for RESF Fall event
Shell Energy North America has been announced as the presenting sponsor for the Fall edition of the Smart Energy Decisions Renewable Energy Sourcing Forum. This marks the first appearance of a major oil company to address corporate buyers about their renewable energy plans. Jason Klein (photo), Shell’s vice president of U.S. energy transition strategy, will present a keynote session on "Navigating the energy transition."
"We’re honored to have Shell Energy as presenting sponsor of our RE Sourcing Forum as they represent another first for Smart Energy Decisions' events," said John Failla, founder & editorial Director of Smart Energy Decisions.
In addition to Shell Energy’s participation in the Forum, Smart Energy Decisions announced that the results of their second annual Renewable Energy Sourcing Survey will be released at the event during their exclusive RE Market Outlook presentation. The presentation will feature key findings from the survey and an overview of the key factors that SED believes will shape corporate renewable energy sourcing over the next 18 months.
The Fall edition of SED’s Renewable Energy Sourcing Forum will take place on October 1-3, 2018 at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The Forum is an invitation-only event open to qualified corporate buyers of renewable energy at large electric power users. In addition, a limited number of supplier sponsorships are available to suppliers and service providers with a proven track record.
With these final additions, the RESF Fall edition agenda is set. As previously announced, keynote presentations will open with Patrick Leonard, manager, energy and resource management at Starbucks, who will discuss "Starbuck’s portfolio approach to renewable energy sourcing.” Brent Trenga, building technology director at Kingspan North America, will address “Driving renewable energy in the supply chain,” as Kingspan has recently joined the Smart Energy Decisions Supply Chain Initiative. Sean Kinghorn, global sustainability leader at Intuit, will discuss "Innovations in RE Sourcing."
Walmart, a charter member of the Supply Chain Initiative, will participate with their suppliers on a panel addressing their groundbreaking Project Gigaton supply chain initiative, which is geared to advance their suppliers’ education and efforts in renewable energy sourcing.
Previously announced sessions include a Utilities panel, a discussion of innovative green tariff programs and their other efforts to meet the renewable energy needs of corporate buyers. The panel for "Cities getting on board with renewables" is a timely discussion as more cities step up to set energy targets.

In addition to Shell, more than two dozen sponsors are confirmed to participate in the Renewable Energy Sourcing Forum. Along with keynote presentations and panel sessions, the RE Sourcing Forum will feature an engaging and informative mix of corporate buyer-only pre-conference workshops, private boardroom case study presentations, and one-on-one meetings with leading industry suppliers. In all, the RE Sourcing Forum has proven to be an intimate event experience unlike any other where corporate buyers and suppliers learn, network, and conduct business collaboratively.
