Nantucket farm adds additional 1.4 MW of solar
The largest family-owned farm on Nantucket Island recently completed a 1.4 MW ground-mounted solar installation, bringing their total solar capacity to near 2 MW and 2.6 million kWh of electricity annually.
The completed project will offset Bartlett’s Farm’s energy needs by 100%. The installation was completed by Dynamic Energy, who also installed the original 595 kW solar farm in 2016 that operates adjacent to the recently completed one.
“Given the success of our first project with Dynamic Energy, we were confident that they would be the right partner for our second,” John Bartlett, President of Bartlett's Farm, said in a statement. “Dynamic has been a strong partner for us, in support of our efforts to generate clean and sustainable sources of energy for the farm. Now this includes the island's electric grid and will help reduce the need for a third undersea cable."
The full 2 MW project is expected to avoid 2,100 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
