NILIT reveals industry's largest on-site cogeneration plant
A global producer of Nylon 6.6 fibers is now operating from an on-site cogeneration power plant that allows them to use natural gas at its main manufacturing facility.
NILIT expects for the plant to reduce their CO2 emissions by 40% and completely eliminate the emissions associated with toxic gases such as sulfur dioxide.
“Throughout its fifty one-year history, NILIT has undertaken efforts in water conservation, energy usage and materials and waste management,” Ilan Melamed, NILIT General Manager, said in a statement. “The move to more sustainable, greener energy at the heart of our manufacturing infrastructure accelerates this effort in a game-changing way.”
NILIT also claims that the new cogeneration plant will be the largest and most cost-effective energy production conversion in the industry. The plant will also serve other businesses in the area.
The Israel-based textile producer has four vertically integrated manufacturing facilities and global offices across the EMEA and LATAM regions, as well as North America and Asia.
