Maryland manufacturers to receive energy efficiency assistance
Manufacturing facilities in Maryland could be receiving help with improving their energy savings performance through a new partnership between Regional Manufacturing Institute and Green Generation.
The nonprofit institute and the Maryland Energy Administration provided a grant for the state-funded Next Generation Energy Efficiency Gains for the Industrial Sector, which was designed to help local manufacturers remain competitive by minimizing their energy costs. GreenGen will be using the program to provide thousands of dollars of engineering services, at no cost to the companies, for manufacturers who spend at least $80,000 on electricity.
“Initiatives like RMI’s Energy Program can help generate enormous returns for manufacturers and give them a valuable competitive edge,” Brad Dockser, chief executive officer of GreenGen, said in a statement. “There remains a knowledge gap, and we are raising awareness among local manufacturing leaders about the innovative solutions that are available to them. We aim to narrow and ultimately close that gap as part of our efforts to support the Maryland business community.”
The RMI Energy Program has already saved nearly 100 Maryland manufacturers over $7.5 million through energy efficiency improvements.
GreenGen will be assisting companies in the utility areas covered by Potomac Electric Power Company and Delmarva Power to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
