Florida school district approves HVAC improvements
Hillsborough County Schools in Tampa, Fla., approved June 2 a list of HVAC upgrades to be implemented at several of its elementary, middle and high schools to improve building climate efficiency.
These upgrades include HVAC and roof repairs, partial HVAC replacements and electrical upgrades to support HVAC improvements, according to the Tampa Bay ABC station.
The schools that are receiving these HVAC upgrades include Adams Middle School, Eisenhower Middle School, Franklin Middle School, Gibsonton Elementary School, Leto High School, Robinson Elementary School, Tampa Bay Technical High School, Valrico Elementary School, Young Middle School and Blake High School.
The upgrades will be funded by a half-penny sales tax that voters approved in 2018 and are expected to be completed at various times during the second half of 2020.
Many of these schools will also be receiving upgrades to their security systems to ensure a more secure building when students return to school in the fall.
