Love's Travel Stops plans six-state EV charging installation
Love’s Travel Stops announced Aug. 18 that they have entered into a partnership with Electrify America to bring public electric vehicle charging stations to seven locations in six U.S. states.
The project will bring a total of 28 fast-chargers to Love’s stations in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah, Florida, New York and Arizona. Five locations are already completed, including one in Salina, Utah, that helped complete a cross-country route of EV chargers from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. The remaining two Love’s locations that have yet to receive the stations are in New York and Arizona.
"Our goal is to provide all drivers with safe, convenient places to stop and refuel - and that includes the growing number of electric vehicle drivers," Frank Love, co-CEO of Love's, said in a statement. "We're committed to initiatives and solutions that reduce emissions, and excited to add EV charging stations at our locations."
The chargers will range in power from 150 kW to 350 kW, the latter of which has the capacity to add 20 miles of range per minute of charge time. The entire project is expected to be completed, with chargers available for the public for free, by early 2021.
