Brambles targets carbon neutrality by 2025
Brambles announced Oct. 20 its new 2025 strategy for improving supply chain sustainability and being carbon neutral with 100% renewable electricity.
By the end of the 2020 financial period, Brambles had achieved 70% renewable energy use and had reduced emissions by 33% since 2015, surpassing its 20% goal. The new targets for 100% renewable energy and carbon neutrality are targeted for 2025.
“For us ‘regenerative’ means restoring, replenishing and creating more value or capital for society and the environment than the business takes out,” Dr. JJ Freijo, Brambles’ Global Head of Sustainability, said in a statement. “The business understands its responsibility around this ambitious vision which is why we are also seeking to account for both the natural and social capital of our 2025 programs and validate our progress towards a regenerative position.”
The company provides transportation services for goods that come from some of the world’s biggest brands and with this new plan are evolving its previously outlined 2015 Better Planet, Better Business, Better Communities program into its Plant Positive, Business Positive and Communities Positive strategy.
A major part of the company’s 2025 Business Positive targets includes advocating for the transition to a circular economy and expanding sustainable practices to more customers in supply chains.
