DuPont Performance Building Solutions targets 75% emissions cut

DuPont’s Performance Building Solutions and Corian Design arm announced Oct. 27 that it intends to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its operations by 75% between 2019 and 2030 and advance the circular economy in its materials manufacturing.

The maker of brands such as Styrofoam Brand, Tyvek and Great Stuff released its complete list of 2030 Sustainability Goals, including the intention to direct 100% of its innovation portfolio to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals. DuPont is also committed to working with customers and partners on green chemistry innovations and driving the continued reduction in the presence of priority substances in its product portfolio.

“We are thrilled to share our 2030 sustainability goals, which will serve as our north star for advancing sustainability in the built environment over the next decade.” Shawn Hunter, Global Sustainability Leader of DuPont PBS and Corian Design, said in a statement. “We believe that purpose and profit go hand in hand, and our core beliefs have inspired us to define what we hope are bold goals that will help drive the transition to sustainability that is urgently needed in the building industry. By pairing our beliefs with the passion of our employees and collaboration from our market partners, we seek to drive real change in building materials and practices over the next decade.”

DuPont’s overall long-term sustainability goals also include reducing emissions by 30% and sourcing 60% renewable electricity by 2050.
