Ware2Go Announces Carbon Offsets for Last-Mile Emissions
Ware2Go, a UPS-founded company allowing merchants of all sizes faster-guaranteed shipping, announced a new initiative to offset carbon emissions to the last mile for all small parcels, less than truckload, full truckload, and air shipments within their network.
All Ware2Go clients are automatically enrolled at no cost to the merchant. The carbon offset program will retroactively offset all shipments made since January 2021. Through a partnership with Pachama, an artificial intelligence and data leveraging company, Ware2Go will participate in various carbon offset programs. These will include old-growth forest conservation and reforestation to make the maximum impact.
In a statement, Patrick Cadic, Ware2Go Chief Revenue Officer, said, “At Ware2Go, our goal is to build merchant relationships based on shared values. Sustainability is a key brand initiative for many of our clients and for Ware2Go as well. Our priority was to make our Carbon Offset Shipping Network easy to adopt and simply part of doing business with Ware2Go. That’s why we’ve chosen to fully fund the initiative and to automatically enroll all of our current and future clients so they can extend their sustainability efforts all the way to their customers’ doorsteps.”
Analysts from Pachama and Ware2Go will work together to determine the monthly carbon emissions in metric tons of all shipments. Ware2Go will then purchase the appropriate number of carbon credits for their clients, based on these emissions.
A diverse portfolio of projects will use these carbon credits to restore vital ecosystems, transition working forests to sustainable forests, with mature trees capable of sequestering a high volume of CO2, and prevent deforestation of old-growth forests.
