Kilroy Realty Earns LEED Platinum for San Diego Office
Kilroy Realty Corporation announced May 19 that its 160,000-square-foot San Diego office development earned LEED Platinum certification thanks to various renewable energy and efficiency projects.
The building was constructed with sustainability in mind. Some key design elements include a solar installation that provides over a third of the property’s energy consumption, benchmarking of embodied carbon in construction materials, and electric vehicle charging stations.
“9455 Towne Centre’s energy goals were the most advanced in KRC’s history,” Jake Brehm, vice president of development at KRC, said in a statement. “The LEED Platinum certification shows that when we set ambitious environmental goals and focus on sustainability throughout the entire development process, we achieve tremendous success with our projects.”
KRC has been recognized for its sustainability efforts in the past and in 2020 was named a global leader in sustainability within the office and office developments sectors.
The facility was designed by Flad Architects and McParlane, while Swinerton oversaw the construction and Stok executed the commissioning.
