Arconic Saw 13% Emissions Drop Last Year
Arconic Corporation announced June 2 that it successfully decreased greenhouse gas emissions by 13.8% from 2019 to 2020.
The aluminum product manufacturer released its latest sustainability updates in its 2020 Sustainability, Environmental, Social and Governance Report. Arconic also reduced its energy consumption by 11.9% since 2019 by investing in energy-efficient equipment and sourcing 19% renewable energy.

In 2020, Arconic’s Scope 1 and 2 emissions equaled 1.6 million tons, while those emissions’ intensity decreased by 1.8% compared to the prior year.
Arconic also detailed the development of a lightweight aluminum adopted by customers like Ford Motor Company that can result in a 5 to 7% fuel savings. Its products are also used in building and construction situations and can help increase the energy efficiency of these buildings.
Scope 3 emissions decreased 11.8% since 2019 and accounted for 85.6% of total emissions.
