Price Chopper/Market 32 to Cut Energy Costs by $2M After Upgrades
Price Chopper/Market 32 expects to reduce its energy costs by $2 million annually through a new energy efficiency project implemented in five Connecticut retail locations.
The efficiency projects were completed by Fairbanks Energy Services and included HVAC and refrigeration upgrades, LED lighting retrofits and occupancy sensors. The Northeast supermarket chain expects the upgrades to reduce energy use by over 5 million kWh.
Eversource Connecticut utility incentives covered 75% of project costs.
“We are proud to choose a project that addresses our sustainability goals while also lowering costs,” Frank Blake, director of facilities maintenance and energy at Price Chopper/Market 32, said in a statement. “The work done by Fairbanks Energy Services supports our commitment to lessening our environmental impact. Their knowledge of CT utility programs allowed us to save significantly on several important upgrades for our stores, and now we’re able to reinvest money we would be spending on energy as early as next year.”
